Global Residency Atlas Where one lives, weighed
About the Atlas

An archive, not a brochure.

We keep a register of cities. Coordinates, populations, time zones. The bare facts — nothing dressed up, nothing for sale.

What this is

Global Residency Atlas is a quiet directory of the world's cities, presented as one might present a private library: by hand, in a single typeface, without commerce or commotion. The data comes from open geographic registers and is kept for those who read carefully before they choose.

What it is not

“A man's home is where he keeps his books and where his books keep him.”

Why it exists

Because the question of where, exactly, one lives — for a season, for a chapter, for the remainder — deserves more consideration than a feed of glossy photographs. The Atlas is the first half of that consideration: facts, plainly stated. The second half is a conversation.

How to make use of it

Search by city, by jurisdiction, by population, or simply by the kind of place — a capital, a regional seat, a quiet section of one. If a city begins to hold your attention, write us a note. We reply by hand, and only by hand.
